Cheated - Chapter 3

The next day at school I caught up with Dan at his locker.
“Hey.”
“Hey.” He said.  I could tell that he wanted to forget what he had said to me and just wanted to be good friends again.
“Can you meet me at the Ice-Cream Parlour after school?” I asked.
“Yeah, sure.  What for?”  
“I just need to tell you something.”

After school I ran straight to the Ice-Cream parlour and ordered two bowls of ice-cream.  As I sat down at a booth I had the sudden urge to hide salt in Dan’s ice-cream…but didn’t.
Five minutes later Dan came through the door and sat down beside me.
After saying ‘hi’ to each other and talking about the assignments we had, I twirled my ice-cream with my spoon as I spoke.
“You know James Scull asked me out today?” I said casually.
“Oh,” he said with a hint of disappointment in his voice.
“But I turned him down.”
“Oh!” he said more cheerfully.
“Because I love someone else.”
“Really?” he said disappointed again.  “Who i…”
He didn’t get to answer for he was interrupted by a kiss.  I held my lips with his for a long time and Dan wasn’t reacting.  But I suddenly felt Dan drop his spoon and wrap his arms around my waist pulling me closer.  
When we broke apart Dan still rested his forehead on mine and whispered to me,
“Four years of wondering, and I finally know what it’s like to kiss you.
Four years of loving you, and I’m finally with you.”
I smiled at him and kissed him again, with Dan kissing me back, I felt really happy…and really in love.

“You seem unusually happy today,” Beckah said to me at my locker the next day.
“Which boy have you gotten with?” she said curiously.
“Sorry, I don’t kiss and tell.” I said.
“YOU KISSED!?! And you haven’t told me?  Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me!” She said jumping up and down.  Suddenly Dan appeared jumping up and down with Beckah.
“Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me!” They said together.
“Dan shut up!  Your gonna break your neck again!”
“Oh c’mon! One time on the jumping castle and suddenly everytime I jump you think I’m gonna break my neck!”
“Yes!”
“Why won’t you tell me?” Beckah asked.
“Because…”
”Because?”
“That’s my answer; because!”
“Argh!  You are so like your brother!” she said and stormed off.
I have an older brother.  He’s the usual popular, annoying, stuck up guy who any girl would fall in love with.  But, like me, he’s also stubborn.  Which is the only thing that we have in common.
“She’s taking it well,” Dan said to me putting his arm around me.
“Yeah, well you better keep your mouth shut or you just may as well lose the one thing that you have.” I said staring at his cute, blue eyes.
“I have other stuff than a car,” he said in defence.
“I meant me!” I said and pushed his chess and walked off down the hall.
Dan had still kept his old joking, funny and sweet personality…but had a new twist with the way he talked to me.
I loved it!
